Rev. Dr. Taylor has extensive experience in counseling and pastoral care. Her A-FACT Framework supported by her research of a faith-based feminist public pastoral theological methodology, supports a dynamic conversation of well-being across faith-traditions as well as offers a foundation for her critique on contemporary understandings of empowerment and healing out of the lived reality of existential anxiety. It is the transformational pillar of Schematic-Based Cognitive Therapy (SBCT). |
Rev. Dr. Taylor has dedicated her life to encouraging transformative adaptation in individuals, families, and social groups. An Ordained Minister in the United Church of Christ (UCC) since 2004 and an LCSW in Illinois since 2009, she holds a PhD in theology, ethics, and the human sciences as well as a post-graduate certificate in Bowen Family Systems Theory, MSW, and MDiv. Rev. Dr. Taylor has taught graduate courses at Aurora University, Chicago Theological Seminary, Institute of Pastoral Studies at Loyola University Chicago, and North Park University. She is the co-founder of Center to Awaken Kindness offering mindful contemplative practices and tools. The Center is continually evolving as a world leader developing a comprehensive curriculum of integrated spiritual wellness and well-being.

Expert in anxiety, empowerment, and spirituality. An extensive knowledge base on Bowen Family Systems Theory was developed having studied under Bowen scholars trained by Dr. Murray Bowen founder of the theory, including Dr. Robert J. Noone, LCSW, Stephanie Ferrera, LCSW, and Sydney Reed, MSW. For over 10 years Rev. Dr. Taylor studied Jungian psychoanalysis and ritual studies under the Jungian Analyst Rev. Dr. Robert L. Moore.
Throughout Rev. Dr. Taylor’s journey, she has gathered information on transformative adaptation. After interning in a local newspaper office during high school, after college she worked at the world’s greatest newspaper, the famous Chicago Tribune in electronic pre-press. For 12 years she worked at Navistar interfacing with marketing, advertising, and print suppliers purchasing professional corporate annual reports, point of purchase kits, training programs, and promotional items. Following the opportunity to learn to weave wicker from three Master weavers, she wove artistic American wicker for 14 years. Desiring to delve deeper into clinical and spiritual understandings of transformational well-being, Rev. Dr. Taylor, together with her husband Rev. Dr. Bill Ressl, began a 20-year adventure in search of spiritual transformative processes in other faith-traditions and cultures as well as alternative methods spanning clinical theory and theology for understanding wellness.
Following internships in community mental service agencies, from 2003 to 2021 she worked as a Co-Pastor in a local church as well as taught graduate students at Aurora University, Chicago Theological Seminary, Institute of Pastoral Studies at Loyola University Chicago, and North Park University. In private practice Rev. Dr. Taylor has worked with women from various cultural backgrounds seeking life transitions. Additional she has served as an In-Care mentor with the United Church of Christ coaching future clergy towards Ordained ministry. In 2020, Rev. Dr. Taylor and Rev. Dr. Ressl co-founded the Center to Awaken Kindness, division Penny & Bill Company, to serve as a global community, that provides self-care to the human Spirit by awakening the kindness of Christ’s love in the world. Today the couple strives to bring the Spirit alive by providing podcasts, storytelling, teaching, listening, artistic reflections, meditation, labyrinth journaling, critical thinking, and sharing the loving kindness of Christ’s message through the advancement of contemporary digitally grounded methods of mindful contemplation.
